First Meeting: Tuesday, 10/8/2019, 3:30 to 4:30, room 2523, Mrs. Barlow's room Bring: Pen/pencil and a small snack to eat or share. Varsity team members study, build, practice for events and participate in the tournament on 2/1. Support team members help our varsity team members, serve as alternates if anyone drops out, and get to participate in trial events at the tournament. Date to Remember: Saturday, 2/1/2020 Note that our tournament is on Saturday, 2/1/2020, at Southeast Raleigh High School. If you cannot participate on that day, please let me know ASAP so that I can give your spot to someone else. I look forward to meeting you and getting everyone together for the first time as a team! 10/3/19 UPDATE: The application period closed on Friday, 9/27. The team has been selected for the current school year.
The WMS Science Olympiad Application is live! Please fill out this application if you are interested in joining our trophy and medal winning team! Application: http://bit.ly/sciolyapp Read the following information carefully before completing this application. Please fill out this application to be considered for the WMS Science Olympiad team. [Selection for the team is very competitive, so be sure to fill out the application fully and to the best of your ability.] *LAST YEAR's TEAM MEMBERS: Fill out sections 1 and 4 only. You may leave out sections 2 and 3.* Application deadline: Friday, 9/27 Acceptance notification: Friday, 10/4, via student/parent email. First team meeting: Tuesday, 10/8, 3:20 - 4:30, room 2523, Mrs. Barlow. Due to the competitive nature of this team, we are unable to accept everyone that applies. Every aspect of this application will be considered in a scoring rubric. If you need to know more information about what Science Olympiad is, please visit the following website: https://www.sciencenc.com/about-us/ Our team consists of 18 varsity team members and about 5 support team members who are members-in-training. With returning team members, there will be about 12 spots to fill. Support team members are expected to attend the tournament and all team meetings if they wish to be guaranteed a spot on the varsity team the following year. They also serve as alternates that may be moved up to the varsity team up to the last minute. They will also be allowed to compete at the tournament in trial events. We make every effort to balance grade level and gender representation while considering team needs each year. Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year, ahem, tournament season!

In the meantime, feel free to explore the events and schedule for this coming season. The Raleigh tournament will be held on Saturday, 2/1/2020, at Southeast Raleigh High School. Final Team Meeting and Party on Tuesday, 2/12. Wear all medals (even for previous years) and team shirt for picture. If you miss this event, you will not be in the team picture for the yearbook.
