Complex Text: Layers of the Atmosphere
Enrichment: What happens at absolute zero (0 K)? Background: This is a great example of complex text found in nonfiction - diagrams, graphs, and charts! There are many "layers" of reading in each diagram that are needed in order to get what the diagram is trying to show you. You have to look all around the diagram. Sometimes you have to read labels, captions, graph axes, numbers, shapes, patterns, and interpret line graphs to do this. Directions: Read the diagrams in the link below and then answer each question. Questions are located after the diagrams in the same document.
