Class this week: Welcome back from spring break! We took our Q3 benchmark on cells on Thursday, 4/25. We will finish up our genetic disorder project presentations this week. We will also finish up our genetics unit with a study of pedigrees and Punnett squares before we head into human body systems.
Table of Contents: Heredity and Genetics Unit Resources for Heredity and Genetics Unit HW = Homework WU = Warm Ups Monday, 4/22 - No School! HW: NA WU: NA Tuesday, 4/23 HW: Study guide. Study for benchmark. WU: Chapter C1 – Cells! 1.Explain the differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes and give an example. 2.Explain the differences between plant cells and animal cells. 3.Sketch the outline and name the 4 protists. (euglena, volvox, paramecium, and amoeba) Wednesday, 4/24 HW: Study guide. Study for benchmark. WU: Chapter C3 – Cell Division! 1.What is cell division (asexual reproduction) used for? (3 processes) 2.What are the products of meiosis and mitosis? 3.Why is meiosis necessary? Why isn’t it beneficial for all organisms to reproduce by mitosis? Thursday, 4/25 HW: Be sure project is finished! WU: 1.What is the difference in function and location between a cell wall and a cell membrane? 2.What ways do cells use to move around? 3.What is the purpose of the nucleus? 4.Put these terms in order from smallest to largest: organs, cells, organism, tissues, organ system. Friday, 4/26 HW: Be sure the project is finished! WU: MOST MISSED QUESTIONS FROM THE BENCHMARK 1.Why do offspring from fertilization have more genetic differences than offspring that come from cell division/mitosis? 2.Which two protists have eyespots and contain chloroplasts? 3.If a plant has a lot of leaves then why would it make sense that the plant needs a lot of water? Use the term "large central vacuole" in your explanation. 4.Give an example of each of these in a human: cell, tissue, organ, organ system. Comments are closed.
