Welcome to 7th grade science with Mrs. Barlow on the Royal team. I can't wait to meet you and get this new school year started!
We are going to start the year off with several days of orientation and getting to know one another. We will also practice thinking like a scientists. Then, we will begin with our weather unit. Hurricane season has already begun, so this is the perfect time of year to study the factors that affect hurricanes. A little bit about me... This is my 8th year at Wakefield Middle. I have worked in science education for 21 years - teaching for 18 years, but also sometimes helping in different ways outside of the classroom. I'm from a tiny town in northeastern NC and ECU is my alma mater for both my master's and bachelor's degrees. I have three children and a husband. One of my daughters is at WMS in 6th grade this year. My other daughter is in 4th grade at WES, nextdoor. My son is 5 and he goes to preschool. My husband is a talented professional photographer who also graduated from ECU - Go Pirates! I love this area and community so much that I live just down the way near Durant Road and sometimes I see students in the neighborhood, at the pool, or in nearby stores. My strange obsessions include: science (of course), gardening and growing things (mainly kids and plants), playing Pokemon Go (you should see my Pokedex), genealogy, reading, and binge watching anything after my kids go to bed. Until we meet in person, I hope you stay safe and healthy. Keep your hands washed, practice social distancing, and wear a mask. And most of all, get geared up for starting our new and different school year. We are in this together! Comments are closed.
